BY CAR
Here is some useful information for getting around the city with your own car. We should like to point out that the city centre is obviously not meant for modern vehicles and therefore can be quite difficult to move around with your own car. The main tourist area in the city centre is part of the ZTL area, that is a limited traffic zone which is controlled by short circuit cameras. If you have to reach booked accommodation (hotel, etc.) you can do so but you need to inform the accommodation beforehand so that your car details may be passed on to the municipal police.
For information about how to enter ZTL zones, see Florence Council’s official site
www.comune.firenze.it (in Italian only)
To find the nearest and most convenient car park, see the Florence car parking site
www.firenzeparcheggi.it (in Italian only).
For information about car sharing, that enables you to use a car only when you need it, see the Car Sharing Firenze site
